The Queens Royal Surrey Regiment

2nd Foot raised in 1661 as the Tangiers Regt. became the Royal West Surrey in 1881.

This was one of the very early regiments of the British Army and was specifically raised to garrison Tangier. It became The Queens in 1727.

The Colours and Memorials are in Guildford Cathedral and Holy Trinity Church Guildford. In 1959 The Queens amalgamated with the East Surreys.

The two Infantry Regiments of Surrey, The Queen's Royal Regiment, 2nd Foot and The East Surrey Regiment, 31st and 70th Foot, which were amalgamated in 1959 to become The Queen's Royal Surrey Regiment. This Regiment subsequently became part of a new Queen's Regiment formed on 31st December 1966

1992.09.09 amalgamated with 2nd Battalion, 3rd Battalion, and 1st Bn, The Royal Hampshire Regiment, to form 1st Bn, The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment, and 2nd Bn, The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment
