The Royal Sussex Regiment

The 35thFoot raised in 1701 as the Earl of Donegal's Regiment, this became the Sussex Regiment in 1804.

In 1881 it was linked to the Bengal Infantry. The Roussillon plume was awarded to the regiment for beating the French Royal Roussillon Regiment at Quebec.

The Colours are in the Parish Churches of Hastings and Horsham. The regiment merged with the 3rd Battalion The Queens Regiment.

1966.12.31 united with The Queen's Royal Surrey Regiment, The Queen's Own Buffs, The Royal Kent Regiment, and The Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge's Own), to form

1992.09.09 amalgamated with 1st Battalion, 2nd Battalion, and 1st Bn, The Royal Hampshire Regiment, to form 1st Bn, The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment, and 2nd Bn, The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment
