1870: C Telegraph Troop, Royal Engineers.

1884: Telegraph Corps, Royal Engineers

1884: Telegraph Battalion, Royal Engineers

1912: Signal Service, Royal Engineers

1914: Army Signal Company, Royal Engineers - formed to absorb Signal Service and provide visual and wireless communication.

1920: Corps of Signals - formed by withdrawal of the Signal Service from the Royal Engineers.

1920: Royal Corps of Signals
