( The Royals Anglians made strange bed fellows to the Yeomanry and vice versa……. But be assured that the Yeomanry upheld its traditions and kept its Guidon & insignia throughout this period until re-joining the RAC as a Squadron in the ranks of the Royal Yeomanry in 1992 and to this day.

Formed 1 September 1964 by redesignation of 3rd East Anglian Regiment (16th/44th Foot). Subtitle omitted 1 July 1968. October 1992 battalion merged with 1st Battalion and 2nd Battalion.

4th Battalion (Leicestershire)
Formed 1 September 1964 by redesignation of 1st Battalion The Royal Leicestershire Regiment . Subtitle omitted 1 July 1968. Reduced to Tiger Company 1 October 1970, reconstuted 1972 as Battalions and disbanded 1975.

Formed 1 April 1967 with Headquarters at Peterborough as TAVR II unit begin the successor to 4th/5th Battalion The Northamptonshire Regiment (TA), 4th Battalion The Royal Norfolk Regiment (TA), The Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Regiment (TA), 4th/6th Battalion The Royal Lincolnshire Regiment (TA), 4th/5th Battalion The Essex Regiment (TA) and 4th/5th Battalion The Royal Leicestershire Regiment.

COMPANIES:
HQ Company at Peterborough. Formed from 4th/5th Battalion The Northamptonshire Regiment (TA).
1st (Norfolk and Suffolk) Company at Lowestoft, later to Ipswich with detachment at Lowestoft. Formed from 4th Battalion The Royal Norfolk Regiment (TA) and part The Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Regiment (TA).
2nd (Duchess of Gloucester's Own Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire) Company at Lincoln. Formed from 4th/6th Battalion The Royal Lincolnshire Regiment (TA).
3rd (16th/44th Foot) Company at Chelmsford. Formed from 4th/5th Battalion The Essex Regiment (TA).
4th (Leicestershire) Company at Leicester. Formed from 4th/5th Battalion The Royal Leicestershire Regiment.

15 December 1969 5th (Hertfordshire) Company formed at Hertford with detachment at Hemel Hempstead from The Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment (T).

8 October 1973: Company designation changed as 1 (Suffolk), 2 (Royal Lincolnshire), 3 (Essex), 4 (Royal Leicestershire), 5 (Hertfordshire).

1978 2 Company at Lincoln redesignated as 'B' Company 7th Battalion; new 2 (Northamptonshire) Company formed at Wellingborough, Rushden and Corby by transfer of 'C' Company 7th Battalion. 5 Company subtitled "Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire".
4 Company at Leicester transferred to 7th Battalion.

1985: 1 Company at Lowestoft transferred as 'C' Company 6th Battalion; new 1 (Essex) Company formed at Basildon and Braintree expansion of Braintree platoon 'B' Company 6th Battalion.
1988: 5 Company redesignated 4 Company.

1992: Battalion organised to three rifle company establishment.
1 April 1992 1 Company and 3 Company amalgamated to form 'B' Company 6th Battalion.
2 Company amalgamated with 'D' Company 7th Battalion to form 'C' Company 7th Battalion.
October 1992 4 Company absorbed Dunstable elements 'B' Company 6th Battalion and redesignated as 'B' Company 7th Battalion.
New companies formed: 1 (Bedford) Company at Bedford by redesignation of 'B' Company 6th Battalion; 2 (Cambridgeshire) Company at Cambridge with Pltn at Wisbech by redesignation of 'D' Company 6th Battalion; 3 Company formed at Loughborough with Pltn at Melton Mowbray by redesignation of 'C' (Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry) Company 7th Battalion.

1 April 1996: Battalion disbanded as result of Options for Change.
Battalion reroled as 158 (Royal Anglian) Transport Regiment Royal Logistic Corps (V) with 'HQ', 1st and 3rd Company redesignated as 200, 201 and 203 Squadrons respectively.
2nd Company redesignated as 'D' Company 6th Battalion.

Formed 1 April 1967 with Headquarters at Bury St Edmunds from cadres of The Royal Norfolk Regiment (T), The Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment (T), The Essex Regiment (T) and The Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Regiment (T).

A (Royal Norfolk) Company at Dereham with Pltn at Norwich. Formed from cadre The Royal Norfolk Regiment (T).
B (Bedfordshire) Company at Bedford. Formed from cadre The Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment (T).
C (Essex) Company at Braintree with det at Dunmow. Formed from cadre The Essex Regiment (T).
D (Cambridgeshire) Company at Cambridge and Wisbech. Formed from cadre The Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Regiment (T).

1 April 1975 'C' Company disbanded; elements at Braintree to 'B' Company and Haverhill elements to 'D' Company as new platoons.

1985: Braintree platoon 'B' Company expanded to form 1 Company 5th Battalion, new platoon formed at Dunstable; New 'C' (Suffolk) Company formed at Ipswich and Lowestoft by transfer of 1 Company 5th Battalion.
'A' Company relocated at Norwich with detachment at East Dereham; 'HQ' Company subtitled '(Suffolk)'.
'E' (HSF) Company formed at Bedford;
'F' (HSF) Company formed at Norwich.

1992 Battalion reorganised to three rifle company establishment.
1 April 1992: 'A' Company amalgamated with Lowestoft platoon 'C' Company and redesignated as 'A' (Royal Norfolk and Suffolk) Company at Norwich and Lowestoft;
New 'B' (Suffolk and Essex) Company formed at Ipswich and Colchester by amalgamation of 'C' Company, less Lowestoft platoon, and Colchester platoon 3 Company 5th Battalion. 'C' Company disbanded as above; new 'C' (Essex) Company formed at Brentwood and Braintree bby amalgamation of 1 and 3 Company 5th Battalion, less Colchester platoon. 22 May 1993 company located at Chelmsford.
October 1992: Late 'B' (Bedfordshire) Company at Bedford and Dunstable reformed as 1 Company 5th Battalion, less Dunstable platoon which amalgamated with 4 Company 5th Battalion to form 'B' Company 7th Battalion.
'D' Company redesignated as 2 (Cambridgeshire) Company 5th Battalion.

1 April 1996: 'B' Company reroled as 202 (Ipswich) Squadron 158 Transport Regiment Royal Logistic Corps (see 5th Battalion).
'D' (Cambridgeshire) Company reformed at Cambridge and Wisbech by transfer 2 Company 5th Battalion.
Later, but certainly by October 1998: 'D' Company redesignated as 'A' Company; 'A' Company redesignated as 'B' Company.

1 July 1999: Battalion disbanded as result of the Strategic Defence Review.
'HQ' Company and 'B' Company redesignated as 'HQ' Company and 'A' Company The East of England Regiment;
'C' Company, less Brentwood, amalgamated with 'B' Company 7th Battalion to form 'E' Company The East of England Regiment.

C (Northamptonshire) Company at Northampton. Formed from cadre The Northamptonshire Regiment (T).
D (Northamptonshire) Company at Wellingborough with det at Corby. Formed from cadre The Northamptonshire Regiment (T).

1 April 1975 Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry Squadron redesignated as Company, 31 October 1975 rebadged as Royal Anglian Regiment (or still LDY).

1977: Ilkeston detachment Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry Squadron expanded to form 'B' Company 3rd (Volunteer) Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment.

1 April 1978: Battalion reorganised to become a BAOR battalion.
Battalion Headquarters to Leicester; 'HQ' (Royal Leicestershire) Company formed at Leicester by amalgamation 4 Company 5th Battalion and 'B' Company. New 'B' (Lincolnshire) Company formed at Lincoln with platoons at Gainsborough and Boston by transfer 2 Company 5th Battalion and elements 'A' Company. Hinckley detachment 'B' Company transferred to Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry Company.
'C' Company relocated at Wellingborough, Rushed and Corby and transferred as 2 Company 5th Battalion; 'D' Company relocated at Northampton.

1982?: 'E' (HSF) Company formed at Leicester and Lincoln.

1988: The Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry Company redesignated as 'C' (Leicestershire and Derbyshire Yeomanry) Company.
1989: 'A' Company consolidated at Scunthorpe and Grimsby and omitted subtitle.

1992: Battalion reorganised into three rifle company establishment.
1 April 1992: 'A' Company and 'B' Company merged to form 'A' (Lincolnshire) Company at Lincoln with platoon at Boston and Grimsby. 'C' Company redesignated as 3 Company 5th Battalion;
October 1992: New 'B' (Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire) Company formed at Hertford with platoon at Dunstable and Hemel Hempstead by amalgamation of 4 Company 5th Battalion and Dunstable Pltn 'B' Company 6th Battalion;
New 'C' (Northamptonshire) Company formed at Northampton with Pltn at Wellingborough by amalgamation of 'D' Company and 2 Company 5th Battalion.
