The Devonshire Regiment

The 11th Foot was raised in 1685 as the Duke of Beauforts Regiment and became the North Devonshire Regiment in 1782. In 1881 the name became The Devonshire Regiment.

The Devons wore Lincoln green facings and their badge always incorporated Exeter Castle.

There is a regimental chapel in Exeter Cathedral with memorials and the old Colours.In 1958 the Devons and Dorsets were almalgamated to form the The Devonshire and Dorset Regiment.
