reorganised with HQ at Berwick-on-Tweed, but initially without affiliated Militia and Volunteers

reorganised as the county regiment of Berwickshire (transferred from Royal Scots district), Dumfries-shire, Roxburghshire, and Selkirkshire (all transferred from Royal Scots Fusiliers district), encompassing also its Militia and infantry volunteers [see below]
1899 Galloway (Kirkcudbright and Wigtown) recruiting area transferred from The Royal Scots Fusiliers
1968 absorbed south Lanarkshire recruiting area upon disbandment of The Cameronians
2006.03.28 united with The Royal Scots, The Royal Highland Fusiliers, The Black Watch, The Highlanders (Seaforth, Gordons and Camerons), and The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, to form The Royal Regiment of Scotland
