The Royal Berkshire Regiment (Princess Charlotte of Wales's)

Raised in 1744 as the 49Foot as Trelawneys Regiment, 66th Foot raised in 1755, this became the Berkshire Regiment in 1782. They were linked as 1st and 2nd Battalions in 1881.

The old Colours are in St. Marys Church Reading, St Lawrence Church Reading, St Helen Abingdom, Windsor Castle and Osborne House Isle of Wight.

In 1959 the Berkshire almalgamated with the Wiltshires and became the The Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment which includes the dragon and naval rope in its badge.
